Searching for data about Split on TripAdvisor, with thousands of reviews about hotels, city attractions, restaurants, is one of the best Split resources.

Split on TripAdvisor

Travelers visiting TripAdvisor are either seeking for information or expressing their opinion about Split city. Where to eat in a new city? What to see and do?  More and more people are using TripAdvisor as their first point of reference.

Some use TripAdvisor to explain in details what was good (or bad) about a dining experience or hotel cleanliness.

Others post pictures of every meal  on social media, while others simply recommend their experience to others over a small but important facts, like about coffee or the best ice-cream in Split.

If you’re like most travelers, when planning a trip you appreciate hearing or reading others’ opinions before you choose a place, than TripAdvisor makes your best Split resource before you visit Split city and Split County.

How data about Split on TripAdvisor can help you?

Although TripAdvisor promotes itself as being the world’s largest travel site, a place where you can get “trusted advice from real travelers”, many people now wonder just how much you can trust the advice it provides.

Here’s my advice to get the most from TripAdvisor:

  • When you read revelers reviews about Split on TripAdvisor, don’t take for granted all opinions.
  • If you find the same complaint about a hotel repeatedly on TripAdvisor (e.g. “terrible service,” “dirty bathroom”, “bad food”), I’d trust it.
  • Use TripAdvisor as one, but not your only resource for travel information. I use HotelsCombined to have more comparative choices.
  • Trust more to destination forums
  • Take with a grain of salt TripAdisor ranking. There is no big difference between #1 or #5.

I love TripAdvisor, but I usually use the destination forums section. It is a completely different part of the website where people are asking for useful information or advice.

There is typically much more specific information posted once you get to the forum for where you are headed.

What data to look for on TripAdvisor

The most accurate data are about hotels in Split. The fact that Split does not have too many hotels, will certainly facilitate to find the best accommodation in the city.

TripAdvisor allows you to find the most suitable hotel, taking into consideration the different conditions from hotel class, style (romantic, luxury, charming, mid-range, budget, boutique), location (city center, Diocletian palace, Bacvice beach) and hotel amenities (air conditioning, free WiFi, internet, beach, pool, pet allowed, room service, spa, restaurant).

Benchmarking hotels by ranking (#) is not always the only and the most reliable criteria.

Above hotels are recommended hotels and highly rated. Both hotels are located in very center of Diocletian palace and only difference is in number of reviews.

Palace Judita has more reviews than Piazza Heritage as the first one is a typical hotel and the second one is apartment type with the kitchen (dishwasher), an oven and a microwave.

Where to eat in Split on TripAdvisor

When it comes to food, everyone’s wondering where to eat in Split, and that is not expensive. Browsing the TripAdvisor’s Split restaurants page  you have a large selection of restaurants sorted by price, cuisine (Mediterranean, seafood, Italian, pizzas, vegetarian), dining options (breakfast, lunch, late dinner, brunch, romantic, for families with children) and by ranking.

Selecting a restaurant by ranking is rather misleading to choose the one that stands out amongst many good restaurants. My advice is to opt for tavern (konoba) type restaurants I have selected on where to eat in Split page.

Many travelers are searching for eating on budget restaurants in Split. You can easily find the list of cheap restaurants by setting the dining option, on dining on a budget.

Fifa restaurant review

One of the typical examples of cheap restaurants with rather low rating mark is Fifa restaurant. It’s rated on #88 on restaurants in Split and #98 among places to eat in Split.

In spite of these ratings, I can assure you, Fifa is the most visited and reviewed eating place in Split (993 reviews from TripAdvisor community), particularly among regular tourists. One of the main reasons are prices to everyone’s budget.

Travel forum about Split on TripAdvisor

Travel forum is definitely my most popular place on TripAdvisor to find useful travel information.

There you can find some Split destination experts to have an answer in no time. You should be careful as lately there are so many fake experts, who pretend to know everything. Check twice the credibility of those experts when using TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor calls them ‘Members who are knowledgeable about this destination and volunteer their time to answer travelers’ questions’.  No harm if you recheck twice who they really are! You can also ask me any time!
