Do you really need to rent a car?

Split parking
Be careful where you park!

If you are getting to Split by plane and your intention is to stay a few days in Split before you proceed to one of the nearby islands, you really don’t have to hire one.

Upon arrival on Split airport take a direct bus line to Split center or public bus number 37 that leaves right outside the airport. In any case you can take a taxi that will cost you €40 one way, or go for a cheaper solution: share a transfer to Split.

You will find more information on Split airport page! If you need to book Split airport transfers, you can check current prices here!

It’s not a problem driving to/around Split but Split has a big parking problems. That’s why I wrote a whole guide dedicated to Split parking here, so if you’re arriving by car be sure to read it.

You need Croatia car rental if…

In case your destination is Dubrovnik than you should rent a car at the Split airport taking one of two options: driving following D8, the famous coastal road, or taking faster E65 highway to Ploce (the border line between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina).
