How to visit Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik in 10 days starting from Split? Many travelers have asked me this question in order to plan their holidays visiting these three islands and Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik

Many have asked me whether it is compulsory to return to Split after a visit to the island of Vis. The answer is definitely NO.

You can be sure in the continuity of this trip without the unnecessary interruptions. But!

An important detail in the planning of this island hoping travel, is the period when  this trip is possible. The period is from June 27th to August 21st 2015. Actually it’s the high season period. To make it possible book both, hotel and catamaran ride, in advance.

Keep in mind that this travel itinerary shouldn’t necessarily take ten days, it can be based on two weeks program, but not scheduled on 7 days basis.

You must be wondering why this trip can’t be arranged in less than 10 days. The main reason for this is island Vis and connections between Vis and Hvar island.

Before I explain this itinerary in more comprehensive way, I have to draw your attention to the fact, that this is only foot passengers itinerary and not for car owners. If you have a car than you should drive from Split to Dubrovnik.

Itinerary Split Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik in 10 or 15 days

If you decide to undertake such a trip, the only critical day on this tour is Tuesday. Why only Tuesday? The answer is very simple as in period from June 27th to August 21st the only connection from Vis to Hvar is on Tuesday.

If you skip this day (Tuesday) you have to go back from Vis to Split to take another catamaran to Hvar town. But in this case you will turn upside-down the whole itinerary, not to mention the additional costs in money and waste of time.

Many visitors have asked me, why I suggest the island of Vis. According to them, it would be better to exclude Vis island from Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik itinerary.

I don’t agree with them. Why? The reason for choosing this island as a perfect escape to Central Dalmatia is the island’s atmosphere, significantly different from the islands of Hvar, Brac and Korcula. Its value are primarily the pristine nature and simplicity of living even through the most chaotic touristic periods.

How much days you intend to stay on each island, depends on you interest and it’s the personal decision that can be applied according personal needs. If you wish you can even add, Mljet island to your itinerary.

Here is my suggestion how to arrange a 10 or more days tour.

Plan to start you trip on Friday or Saturday from Split. Even starting on Sunday is doable but you’ll have only one day on Vis island. Too short!

To get to Vis you have two possibilities. Take a ferry to Vis run by Jadrolinija or Krilo company fast catamaran (recommended). The second shipper will be the main carrier on your islands hoping trip. Book your Krilo trip online!

  • From  Split to Vis from 27.06 to 21.08 Krilo catamaran leaves at 18.00 arriving in Vis at 19.25. The one way ticket is 55 KN. Download their catamaran schedule!
  • From Split to Vis Jadrolinija ferry leaves from 29.05.2015 – 02.07.2015 & 31.08.2015 – 27.09.2015 two times a day – at 11.00 and 18.30 except on Friday at 10.00 and 17.00. This is the only Jadrolinija route you will use as alternative. Download their ferry  schedule!
  • Sailing schedule for tourist trips by Krilo Company from Split-Brac-Hvar-Korcula-Mljet-Dubrovnik from June 1 to August 31, 2015. This schedule you’ll follow after you arrive on Hvar island from Vis island. For your need you can download this catamaran schedule from here!

Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik – points of sale and information

Leaving to Vis on Friday you have 3 days on Vis island, while leaving on Saturday you have two days at your disposal on Vis island. In both cases quite enough to enjoy your stay on this island of pristine nature.

On Tuesday after your 3 or 4 days on Vis island, you will take the Krilo catamaran to Hvar island (Hvar town). This is the only day when you can leave Vis at 07.15 to get to Hvar town at 08.05. It will cost you 40 KN.

Upon arriving in Hvar you can plan to stay from 3 to four days. You can always take an extra day on Hvar if you stay less days on Vis island, but always bear in mind that Tuesday is a crucial day (only from Vis to Hvar).

To continue hoping on Vis Hvar Kurcula Dubrovnik route, Korcula island is your next destination. You can take the catamaran from Hvar that leaves  every day at 08.55 arriving in Korcula at 10.00. One-way  ticket is 80 KN. The Korcula island and Korcula town deserves at least 3 to 4 days to visit all island’s and town’s beauties.

Consider adding Mljet island to this Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik itinerary!

Once you decide to leave Korcula to get to Dubrovnik you should take catamaran from Korcula at 10.10 every day, arriving in Dubrovnik at 12.00. You have to pay 110 KN on this route. How long you are going to stay in Dubrovnik, is up to you. I know for sure that it’s never enough of Dubrovnik.

After your stay in Dubrovnik you can take Krilo catamaran to Split. It leaves every day at 16.30 arriving in Split at 20.45. This depends if you are leaving Croatia from Split or from Dubrovnik. The ticket is 180 KN.

I hope this Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik itinerary will help you to plan your island hoping adventure as all you have to pay attention at, is this ‘Tuesday’ at Vis island. Don’t forget this itinerary is valid only from June 1st to August 31st, 2015 period.

For your information you can extend your extra day visiting from Korcula, another magic island, Mljet island, the National Park. It’s just on the way! From Korcula, catamaran leaves at 10.10 and arrives at Mljet island at 10.40. Check above the Vis Hvar Korcula Dubrovnik timetable.

Enjoy your Dalmatia islands hopping adventure!
